SOUTH BEND, Ind. – For the second time this season, the Indiana University South Bend men's basketball team fell in the final five seconds of a game. Judson University was the culprit on Saturday as Drew Makiewicz drove right and banked home a runner with five seconds left to move the Titans to 11-7 and 4-5 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference action.
Myluv Sutton (FR/Fort Wayne, Ind. ) did his best to keep the Titans in the game as he drained two triples in the final minute of the contest. Joe Bannister (FR/Crown Point, Ind. ) followed the final three from Sutton with a lay up to deadlock the game at 75, but the Titan defense couldn't get the stop they needed to send the game into overtime.
Sutton finished with a game-high 20 points in the loss while Bannister added 10 off the bench.
Judson drained 10 three-point baskets in the first half which helped build an 11-point lead midway through the first half.
Riley Stichter (SR/Milford, Ind.) was able to cut the Eagles lead to six points after he blocked a three-point attempt, picked up the rebound and went the length of the floor and laid it in to beat the buzzer.
A 9-0 run to start the second half extended the Judson lead to 15 points but over the next seven minutes a 19-5 run capped by a Mark White (SR/Muncie, Ind.) fast break lay-up off the Sutton steal put the Titans in front by one point.
After Judson regained the lead, they did not surrender it for the remainder of the game on their way to a thrilled two-point victory.
Javonte Young (SR/Mishawaka, Ind.) netted 16 points in the loss White finished with 10.
