Kara Werner serves as the Head Athletic Trainer at Indiana University South Bend. She is employed by the Memorial Sports Medicine Institute in South Bend, IN. Kara works primarily with the volleyball and men's and women's basketball teams.
The Illinois native earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Carroll University (Waukesha, WI) in 2007. While attending Carroll University, she lettered three years in softball, and was all conference her senior year.
Werner received a Masters of Arts in Counseling with an emphasis in Higher Education in 2009 from Lakeland College (Sheboygan, Wisc). While at Lakeland, she served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for two years, working extensively with the volleyball, wrestling and softball teams while also being an assistant coach for the softball team.
She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association, currently serving as chairperson for the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Athletic Trainers Committee as well as the Chair of the NAIA-ATA Professional Education & Research Committee. In addition to her athletic training duties, Werner is also the strength and conditioning coach and is an adjunct instructor at IU South Bend. She was named the CCAC Athletic Trainer of the year for the 2010-2011 school year.
